Industrial Supply Association Meeting Highlights Importance of Networking

While we’ve all adapted and reaped the benefits of more efficient communication, nothing can replace in-person interaction. As author Robert Kiyosaki says: “If you want to go somewhere, it is best to find someone who has already been there.” That’s just one of the reasons that we’re heading to the Industrial Supply Association’s annual convention this weekend; come visit us in booth #1706 on both the distributor and supplier days. We’ve had a long relationship with ISA, holding our first annual meeting at the convention several years ago.

We’re excited to connect once again with our NetPlus Alliance distributor members and suppliers who will be at the show, as well as others in the industry we’ve come to know over the years.

As the spring distribution meeting season continues, we’re reminded of the value that this face-to-face networking brings:

  • Sharing what’s worked (and, perhaps more importantly, lessons from what hasn’t) with like-minded distributors.
  • Stepping back from your day-to-day for some much-needed perspective on your own business, supported by conversations with industry friends.
  • Connecting with new suppliers that may open new lines for your business, and uncovering sales opportunities with existing ones.

We’ve also found that getting away at events like ISA’s annual convention allows you to deepen your relationships within your own team.

At NetPlus, we facilitate in-person meetings between our distributor members and suppliers because we know they are valuable to the individual companies and contribute to building an effective channel. We successfully wrapped up our third Annual Meeting last fall, and our Regional Meetings this spring were fruitful for our distributor members and suppliers.

Our distributor members use these meetings to meet one-on-one with potential and existing supplier reps. They plan, work through challenges and identify opportunities. NetPlus-facilitated product trainings also give our distributor members a chance to connect with like-minded distributors from their region and beyond.

We encourage our members at NetPlus to work on their businesses, not just in their businesses, and events are the perfect opportunity to do this. Networking expands possibilities, exposing distributors to new ideas and feedback they could not get anywhere else.
